Once a Witch by: Carolyn MacCullough

I love, love loved this book!!! It follows a young girl, from a family of witches, who lacks any power and is the outcast of her family.

A mysterious stranger walks into her families book store seeking a lost object and she decides to help him to prove she can be just as great as her magical family.

Unfortunately this creates a lot of really big problems.

Once a Witch was an amazing book and I put it on my must read list!

Season of the Witch

This movie delivered everything it's trailer promised and then some!!

At first I was hesitant because of the religious aspects of the movies. I didn't really want to watch a movie about religious nuts slaying witches. However an interesting turn of events makes this movie worth it.

It also doesn't dwell to heavily on religion, for those of you like me who hate preachy movies.

Mortal Instruments by: Cassandra Clare

Once again I have read the first two books in this series (waiting on the library again). I was very impressed with this series and was hooked from the very beginning.

Cassandra Clare has a great imagination and her book introduces a world completely her own, but with creatures we have all grown up with (vampires, werewolves, faries, angels).

I highly recommended this book to all readers. It could very well be the next Harry Potter!

Vampire Academy by: Richelle Mead

I have already read the first two books in this series and am waiting on the rest to come into the library. It took me a few chapters to get into the first book but it was worth it.

This series has some similarities to the P.C. Cast series(Vampire school, magic, good vs. evil) but Richelle Mead has more class then the Cast duo and does not feel the need to immaturely insult other authors in her books.

If you like vampires, Mead's series gives an interesting twist to the myths.

Super 8

This movie reminded me of Cloverfield, however it was much better. You actually get to see the monster.

The previews to this movie left much to the imagination but it was a pretty good movie. It has explosions, romance and a couple life lessons.

I would recommend this movie to someone looking for a movie to share with the family (if you have older children, younger ones might be scared).

Thor

This is one of the movies I was most excited about this summer. It wasn't as epic as I had hoped it would be.

It leaves some questions at the end. Like how Thor ends up on the Justice League if he lives in a separate world.

It was an ok movie, but it wasn't great. Iron Man was a much better installment to the series.

Hallpass

If you are looking for a romantic comedy I recommend Hallpass. This movie has tasteful humor but also delivers a life lesson.

In Hallpass two husbands are given a week off of marriage to do as they please with no consequences. The idea is that this will strengthen their marriages.

Has anyone ever given their spouse a break from marriage? I would be interested to know if this was a real thing?
