World's Greatest Dad

World's Greatest Dad is not Rob William's greatest movie. Like most parents of teenagers dad and son have little in common. Their generation gap is as wide as an ocean.

When tragedy strikes his teen, Lance Clayton tries to save his son's reputation but in doing so he sets in motion a series of lies, that gets him everything he wants. He lives through his son to achieve his dreams.

He finds that having is not so pleasing as wanting and that his web of lies is getting out of control.

After freeing himself from his web he takes a cathartic run, stripping to his birthday suit, and yes my readers you get to see William's family jewels. This is not a movie to watch on family night. Really it isn't a movie to watch at all.

Hot Tub Time Machine

Feeling a little down? Need a good laugh? A reason to brighten the dark spot in your day? Then Hot Tub Time Machine is the movie for you!!

The movie follows three "best friends" and one teenager on a vacation to a ski resort where all their best memories were. In their drunken partying they accidentally create a time machine that takes them back to their glory days.

Once in the past will they try to prevent a butterfly effect that could destroy the space time continuum? or will they follow the past too a tee?

Watch this movie for a great laugh. Find out just how far friendship can go.

What would you do if you could rewrite your past? Would you risk destroying the world to find happiness or would you sacrifice your self and your happiness to make sure the past stayed the same and the future along with it?

The Sea of Monsters by: Rick Riordan

The Sea of Monsters is the squeal to The lightening Thief. The book follows Percy Jackson, son of the Greek God Poseidon, on his quest to save Camp Half Blood.

The series in a whole is a good way to teach children about the Greek myths. For the most part the story holds true to the ancient myths. I have only found two errors in the whole book. One Poseidon as Percy's father is unrealistic. As my classical mythology professor put the uglier and smellier a woman was the more attractive she would be to the sea good. Since Percy's mother is described as neither ugly or smelly she would not have attracted the attention of the sea god. Second the pact between the three most powerful gods (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades) has a flaw. Hades has no need to make an oath because he does not cheat on his wife Persephone. He tried once and was caught and has never tired again. So he really has no reason to make an oath to stop siring half mortal children because the only woman he can have children with is his wife.

Other than these minor errors in the myth I would recommend this book to adults and children alike. For those, like me, who have a background in Greek myth the books can be some what predictable. However the background knowledge helps understand certain parts that those who are new to the Greek world could miss or not comprehend.

This book is a great read regardless of you knowledge of the Greek gods and their myths. So why not grab the kids and this book and have story time around the camp fire at your own Half Blood Hill summer camp.

The Road

Honestly can't tell you what the movie was about. Within 20 minutes of starting it, I passed out. I wasn't even tired when we started the movie and I never sleep during movies. So this one had to be bad. I woke up near the end and the two people I was watching it with (they actually stayed awake through it)had no idea what was going on, or why anything happened.

So I don't recommend this movie, even though I didn't watch most of it. It confused the people who did watch the whole thing and didn't explain anything that was going on, so by the end my movie companions were left asking WTF?

Dear John By: Nicholas Sparks (the book)

Over all it was a great read. As the name entails, for anyone who has any sort of military background, the reader should already know what to expect. If you don't know what that refers to ask as soldier what a Dear John letter is, the book isn't titled that because the main character is named John.

Dear John examines what it really means to love someone. Love is not always about weddings, and children, and white picket fences. Love is about sacrifice, hardship, and tough decisions.

Don't expect everything to be ok in the end, this book exemplifies real life and in real life no one is happy all the time and though the boy always gets the girl it doesn't mean it's the right boy or right girl. Statistically most American's marry but many of those our for reason other then soul mate, type true love.

Dear John is divided into three parts. The beginning, the middle, and the end. I know it seems cliche but that is the truth. The beginning reads at a fast pace, you get drawn in, you want to be the girl and the boy. The middle you start to see real life starting to take place. People fight and make up. Bad things happen. By the end you the book starts to drag, you just want it to be over. By then you have guessed what is coming and you don't understand why they can't just say it.

The moral of the story. Love means making that person happy even if it means hurting yourself in the process. Do you love someone that way? Do you know someone who is that unselfish that they could sacrifice their happiness for the sake of the one they love?

Read Dear John and find the answer to what it really means to love someone unconditionally.
